MABA: Comets edge out SlamDrunks to secure a one-point victory in Manjimup

Comets edged out SlamDrunks in their Manjimup Amateur Basketball Association round 15 clash, fighting off a comeback to win by a point.
SlamDrunks took the early lead, but Comets proved hard to shake, keeping within a point or two throughout the first half.
Comets’ Caitlin Smith scored 20 seconds into the second half to put her team in front for only the second time in the match.
Comets stretched their lead to seven points, before SlamDrunks made their comeback attempt.
The win looked achievable for SlamDrunks in the last two minutes of the match but Comets were able to hold them off and the secure the win, 24-23.
Courtney Webb and Smith led the scoring for the winning side, with eight and seven points respectively.
SlamDunks’ top point scorer was Jessilee East (eight points).
Also in Women’s A, Titans defeated Senators 28-14, Saints drew 35-35 with Sapphires, and Panthers defeated Astrix 38-19.
In Women’s B, Raiders defeated Magpies Orange 30-27, and Magpies Blue beat Tropics 44-19.
