Lucky escape from rollover

Busselton Dunsborough Times

A 22-year-old Busselton woman and her passenger were lucky to escape serious injury when the car they were in lost control and flipped over twice on Caves Road.

The single car accident happened late on Tuesday afternoon near Whittle Road in Yallingup.

Dunsborough Sergeant Craig Anderson said the driver lost control of the vehicle around a bend, causing the rear end of the utility vehicle to go onto the gravel.

He said the driver overcorrected, collided with the embankment and the vehicle became airborne, flipping over twice before landing on its wheels.

“Both were able to crawl out the passenger door and were relatively unscathed,” he said.

“The driver may have a wrist injury but apart from that they were very lucky.”

Sgt Anderson said the driver and passenger were driving home after lunch and an afternoon of wine tasting.

“The driver has been charged with excess 0.08 and careless driving,” he said.
