The Bible’s iconic nativity scene will come to life at Cornerstone Christian College’s Dunsborough campus next week in support of the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The school will host its inaugural Lights In The Bush fundraiser on Saturday, with all funds going towards a new $180,000 infant ambulance for the hospital, formerly Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.

The event forms part of the hospital’s Christmas Lights initiative in which lit up properties — usually residential homes — collect donations from spectators.

But Cornerstone has upped the ante, adding a 12-stage nativity bushwalk, pony rides, bouncy castles, giant games, face painting, and food and drink vans to the light display.

“The purpose of school community events like these is to bring families together to enjoy the spirit of Christmas,” head of campus Tina King said. “We also want the students to understand it’s not just about receiving gifts — Christmas is about giving, so to join with a charity like this is the perfect way to show students this.”

Actors will help bring the Nativity bushwalk to life on December 3, but it will remain open for two weeks longer.

The free event begins at 5.30pm at the campus, located at Cornerstone Way, Dunsborough.

The lights will be turned on at 7.30pm.
