Kids off on pirate adventure
Pirates, parrots and sailors will soon storm the stage at West Busselton Primary School for its annual theatre production.
Director and drama specialist Chris Bradford said the cast and crew of Pirates of the Curry Bean had spent much of the year preparing for the show and was excited to watch it come to fruition.
“It is challenging for the students because they’re giving up some of their own time for dancing and singing practice, but it’s a lot of fun too,” she said.
Pirates of the Curry Bean tells the story of twins who embark on an adventure to find their mother after she is kidnapped by a band of pirates.
Ms Bradford said the school chose the play because it was “very humorous” and accompanied by “great music”.
More than 40 students from Year 4 to Year 6 are involved in the production and will draw on their experience in the school-wide drama program.
“A lot of students and parents are involved too,” Ms Bradford said.
“It’s a big effort from the whole school.” The annual production is a highlight of the drama program and will culminate in showings from September 13-15.
Tuesday’s production will start at 11am, and the remaining shows will begin at 7.30pm.
