Kids got nothing to do? Try this!
The City of Busselton’s Geographe Action Program kicked off its summer holiday activities this month with surf and body-boarding workshops at Margaret River Estuary.
The program is part of plans from the City’s first ever youth development officer Gene Hardy to transform the region for children.
Youth Support Officer Dan D’Ippolito said the workshop had been “an awesome day out in the surf with a bunch of awesome people”.
“(There were) good conditions for some of the younger kids to get out in the surf and also for the older ones to have a bit of fun out the back, ” he said. “I can’t wait for the next day out.”
This week participants in the school holiday program enjoyed an advanced circus workshop with diablo, juggling, devil sticks and acrobatics lessons.
Upcoming activities include the South West Adventure Camp, a three day camping experience including canoeing, hiking and surfing with participants from Margaret River and Nannup.
The camp will be held on Tuesday, January 14, to Thursday, January 16.
Other events include a Youth Theatre workshop by Curtin University, Mountain Biking in Boranup Forest and a Cape to Cape walk and snorkelling adventure.
