Jet-setting students in Japan, Italy exchange

Two Georgiana Molloy Anglican School students are in the midst of overseas trips after being chosen to take part in exchange programs.

Jordan Pannett was selected to receive the Kizuna Scholarship to travel to Japan in the last week of term 4.

The scholarship is funded by the Japanese Government and Jordan was chosen from more than 1300 applicants.

He was due to visit the Tohoku disaster area from the 2011 Japan earthquake as part of the program, which aims to promote global understanding of Japan’s revival efforts.

Fellow Year 11 student Emily Macpherson has left for an eight-week stay in Italy as part of an exchange program sponsored by the Western Australian Association of Italian Teachers.

She started in Rome for an orientation session and then travelled to Argelato, a town of about 10,000 people.

Emily has plans to stay with a host family and will attend school in nearby Cento.

Coincidently, Emily’s Italian teacher Justine Richmond was an exchange student on the same pro-Emily Macpherson and Jordan Pannett are on overseas exchanges. gram in 1983.
