Jazz to echo through the bay

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Capes venues will host some of the State’s top performers this June long weekend for the second annual Jazz by the Bay Festival.

Musicians fresh from the Perth International Jazz Festival will perform at a raft of South West venues, including Aravina Estate, Lamont’s Smiths Beach, Happs Winery and Caves House Hotel from May 30 to June 1.

Swing jazz trio Local Vintage will perform at Old Dunsborough Hall on Sunday for the Capecare Swing Dance event, as swing dancers show guests how to dance the night away from 7.30pm to 10pm.

The trio will also be performing a mix of classic and contemporary jazz in the warm eclectic pottery space of Happs Winery over the festival weekend.

Elle Deslandes will be a highlight at Lamont’s Smiths Beach at a Dinner and Jazz three-course dinner and will also perform at a seated Tapas and Jazz event to be held at Lamont’s restaurant.

Caves House will host an evening of Gypsy Jazz with the Bellville Quartet, and classical jazz, eclectic instrumentals, blues and soul from the Soul Survivors.

The Michelle Spriggs Duo will perform at a themed New Orleans buffet, Doxy will deliver Latin swing and R&B, and mUnk will play fusion, jazz, funk and hip-hop.

Aravina Estate, meanwhile, will host a three-course jazz dinner by executive chef Tony Howell.
