Jams live at the Occy

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Can you play guitar like Johnny Diesel? Can you sing like Jimmy Barnes? Are you the next Missy Higgins?

Attention musical maestros, Occy’s Big Jam Sessions need you. The Abbey brewery is offering its stage every Friday from 2pm to 5pm and all are welcome.

Organiser Peter Baile said he wanted to hear from musicians of all genres and styles.

“There seems to be a lot of underground musicians around here who want to play live music, but they don’t have the time to put a band together,” he said.

“The idea is they can rock up to Occy’s and start making music with whoever else is around.”

Mr Baile plays guitar and harmonica, and is looking for musicians of any style to jam with.

“I reckon we’ll get a few people who fancy themselves as singers and it would be good to get some bass players and drummers,” he said.

“I’d like to see some more unusual instrumentalists joining in too — maybe someone who plays bongos can come and do a bit of percussion.”

Whatever people’s musical style or ability, he said the overall idea was to have fun making music.

“The point is to just relax and enjoy playing music with other people.

“We could even have someone doing some bush poetry. It’s very relaxed and I’m open to absolutely anything.”
