It's Red Nose Day!
Bright red clothes, drawings and noses will be seen at Dunsborough Lakes’ ABC Childcare Centre today as it raises awareness of a concern shared by new parents.
Picture by Derek Pool: Hunter De Lecq Le Montais, 4, with ABC Childcare Centre Dunsborough Lakes director Sharlee Read will be taking part in Red Nose Day activities today.
Children were encouraged to wear their brightest red outfits for Red Nose Day today and take part in some red activities.
The event is part of the centre’s annual efforts to raise awareness for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Centre director Sharlee Read said luckily nobody linked to the centre had been affected by SIDS but it was important for parents to be aware of the risk.
“It’s just something we would like to raise awareness for, I guess it’s something a lot of people do think about when they’re having children,” Miss Read said.
Red Noses would also be on sale throughout the Busselton shire today, including the Times office, with the money raised for SIDS and Kids which offers education, funds research into the syndrome and bereavement support services for affected families.
