High speed internet in Busselton
Busselton households and businesses are set to gain access to faster internet after the installation of ADSL2+ infrastructure in the area.
So far five street side cabinets have been upgraded with improved technology known as ‘top hats’, delivering an extra 2000 high speed connections offering download speeds of up to 20MB/s.
Telstra area manager general Boyd Brown said the infrastructure was a significant leap forward.
“The upgrade will support our customers’ growing interest in connecting household communication devices to the internet so they can enjoy information and entertainment on demand,” he said.
“Being connected to ADSL2+ broadband technology will enable households to stream video, access their favourite internet sites and work from home.”
The installation in Busselton is part of a nationwide infrastructure investment where ‘top hats’ will be installed in street side cabinets during the next 18 months.
Vasse MLA Troy Buswell said residents and business had long been experiencing difficulty accessing high speed internet in Busselton.
“The rollout of extra connections will help alleviate that demand,” he said.
“It means more people in our area will have access to the same speeds as metro areas.
“Busselton is becoming a place where creatively-minded business people are looking to base themselves and faster internet will help attract more of them.”
