Gracetown’s hometown hero Bronte Macaulay has achieved her best-ever career result finishing second in the 6-Star Pantin Classic Galicia Pro in Spain.

It was a close finish for Macaulay, who was defeated by Brazillian Silvana Lima at the weekend by 0.2 as the competition came down to the wire.

Macaulay was on form all week and told ASP it was a nerve-racking final for her.

“It came down to the last minute, so it was a pretty cool first final for me,” she said.

Surfing WA’s Justin Majeks said the event was a massive confidence boost for 20-year-old Macaulay, putting her in a great position to challenge for a spot on the elite ASP Womens’ World Championship tour.

“Surfing WA is stoked for Bronte and her result,” he said.

“She took down two current ASP World Tour surfers to reach the final, Cocco Ho and Pauline Ado which is supper impressive.

“As a product of our junior development pathway over the years, it’s no surprise to see her now succeeding on the the global stage.”

Lima also told ASP Macaulay had been “ripping” all event and said she thanked god for her last wave.

Macaulay will now focus on her regional under 20 Australian series.
