Going to great lengths to help cancer patients

Busselton Dunsborough Times

A Busselton woman is undertaking a drastic change to help women undergoing cancer treatment.

South West Pets manager Michelle Lawrance is cutting off her hair to be made into a wig as a donation to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths campaign.

Ms Lawrance is having her hair cut at the launch of the revamped South West Pets Bunbury store on October 5 and also hopes to raise $2000 for the Look Good Feel Better campaign.

“I’ve never done anything like this before so I don’t really know what to expect,” she said.

“I’ve been growing my hair for the last five years and I wanted to have a change, so I thought why not combine it with a good cause like the Beautiful Locks campaign.

“I’ve not had anyone close to me affected by cancer, but I know it affects quite a few people in Australia, so it’s very worthy cause.”

Ms Lawrance said her hair was currently 18 inches long and she needed to cut off at least eight inches for a wig so the transformation would be dramatic.

She has started the Facebook page Pantene Beautiful Lengths Fundraiser, which also contains links to the Look Good Feel Better campaign.

“I didn’t really give much thought to it at the time, but now it’s happening, there’s no going back,” she said.

“It’s going to be strange having my hair cut in the store in front of lots of people.”
