Since the one-day talent concert was first created in 2007 it had become an annual event which showcased musical excellence across the school.

After months of practice, this year’s extravaganza attracted 93 auditions last month, involving more than 100 children, which was then condensed to 27 chosen acts including nine vocalists, nine dancers, eight instrumentalists and one recital.

Music specialist Karen Baker said the standard had gradually improved and the participants enjoyed the new format which featured three judges who scored each act.

First place was awarded to 12-year-old Dominic Deppiazzi for his vocal performance of Marry You, second was given to 11-year-old Sammy Morgan for her recital of Pumpkin Pie while 11-year-old vocalist Taylah Kent earned third place for her song, The Show.

Mrs Baker said the school was “abuzz” and the most heart-warming part of the day was how the audience of 650 children cheered and supported each performance.
