Flautist flaunts it with Baroque

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Dunsborough flautist Sabine Kozlowski will give her first public performance of Baroque flute this month.

Kozlowski, who also plays piccolo, is an accomplished modern flute player with 10 years experience.

She is a flute teacher, both privately and at schools in Busselton and Dunsborough, is first flute in the South West Philharmonic Orchestra and plays with the South West Opera Company.

“The Baroque flute is a wooden instrument made popular in the Baroque era, between 1600 and 1750, ” Kozlowski said.

“It was the forerunner of the modern flute and has a unique vocal quality, having only one key — as opposed to modern flutes, which have 13 to 17.”

Kozlowski will perform at the Dunsborough Library Big Morning Tea on Thursday May 22 with recorder player Peter Cole and Richard Clark on harpsichord.
