KIM KIRKMAN,Busselton Dunsborough Times

Busselton’s Justin Cobby will fight to defend his World Kickboxing Association bantam weight mixed martial arts State title in Perth tomorrow night.

The fight, against Perth’s James Reeves at Craigie Leisure Centre, will be the 22-year-old’s first time defending the title.

“You always expect it to be tough, anything can happen, but I feel good, ” Cobby said.

Cobby, who trains daily in Bunbury under coach Shaun Spooner, said he put in about two hours a night of strength and conditioning.

Cobby started out in Muay Thai, but crossed over to mixed martial arts and has been training for about four years.

“I’d just always seen it in movies and it was something I always really wanted to do, ” he said.

“There are a lot of dimensions.

“It’s a mixture of all martial arts, jujitsu, kickboxing, there are elements of pretty much every sort of martial arts.”

Cobby’s fight is tomorrow from 7pm.
