A wet start has not dampened spirits at the seventh CinefestOZ in Busselton.

The film festival started on Wednesday and will run until Sunday, with events also happening in Dunsborough, Margaret River, Augusta and Bunbury.

The festival features more than 60 films, including 14 Australian and 10 French feature-length movies, 13 community screenings and 29 short films.

CinefestOZ chief executive Malinda Nixon said the festival kept getting bigger and better.

“We also have a fantastic French program, short film and food-side bar events and free community screenings, not to mention the Cine-snaps short film finale, along with a whole host of industry events and workshops, ” she said.

Australian actor Joel Edgerton has been named this year’s CinefestOZ Screen Legend.

The award will be presented at a gala event in Busselton tomorrow night, along with the film prize.

Edgerton, appearing on the red carpet in Busselton tonight for the WA premiere of his new film Felony, said he was “flattered and honoured”.

“Australian films are so important to me and I’m very lucky to be able to make films here in Australia, ” he said.

Community screenings are taking place at venues in Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River, Augusta, Bunbury and Nannup.
