The youngest member of Busselton's Rabjones family will compete in this weekend's Busselton Ironman for the first time with his father and older brother.

Brother Mitch joined father Shane Rabjones in his first ironman when he turned 18 two years ago, and now it's Josh's turn.

"The boys are pretty competitive with each other," Shane said.

"They've been involved in triathlons for many years."

The athletes have been training six days a week for the event and Shane said he expected the swim to be both his sons' strongest leg, while he favoured the ride.

"I'm hoping just to finish," Shane said.

"The boys have set themselves somewhere between 10 and 12 hours."

Shane said this year's Ironman would likely be his last.

"I did the Ironman with Mitchell two years ago when he turned 18, now Josh has turned 18 and I'll do it with him and then I can retire," he said.
