Busselton Art Society’s Christmas exhibition opened last week.

Entitled Local Treasures, it runs until February 22 at the society’s Queen Street gallery.

Society member Lynne Holden said the theme had thrown up some interesting pieces.

“Busselton is full of local treasures — the jetty, the church, the post office, all the old buildings,” she said.

“A lot of the artists have done different things and it’s been interesting to see the variation of their work.

“I wanted to be a bit different so I’ve done a huge painting which combines Christmas with Australian animals like koalas and kangaroos.”

There will be 54 hanging pieces and many smaller ones on sale at the exhibition.

Ms Holden said as usual the standard was high, especially from the younger artists.

“It’s a beautiful exhibition and well worth coming to have a look at,” she said.

“We’ve got pieces starting from $10 that would make ideal Christmas presents.”
