A Dunsborough resident has been selected to take part in a nationwide program that brings together leaders in the agribusiness sector.

Elders zone farm supplies manager Andrew Gibson spent last week in Gippsland with 14 other leaders for the inagural Australian Agribusiness Leadership Program run by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation.

Mr Gibson said the program was about leadership development and working with a team.

“We did a range of different activities within a team environment, which pushes you to see how you work with a team and it also tests your leadership capabilities,” he said.

“The idea was to challenge yourself.”

Mr Gibson has been working in agribusinesses for more than 25 years and said the program would allow him to gain more experience in the sector.

“It’s always good to have new development and to learn and this was a good way to take the next step in leadership,” he said.

“There are always challenges to meet in agribusiness and this program will help me to be better equipped to meet those challenges.”

As part of the program, Mr Gibson will also complete a module in May and a final session in Sydney in June.

“It has challenged me and allowed me to learn from other people and from the experience I am learning a lot,” he said.
