Dunsborough photographer snaps award

Popular Dunsborough-based photographer Christian Fletcher has been named Australia’s best landscape photographer.

Fletcher took home the Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year award at the prestigious Australian Institute of Professional Photography awards night in Sydney on Monday.

The self-taught photographer said it was great to be recognised after 20 years as a landscape photographer.

Fletcher also won the Fusion award for a project on the old Midland railway yards.

“It was a mix of video and stills.

"My brother Michael did the video side of it, it was pretty much his award,” he said.

Fletcher has also been recognised as a master photographer by the institute, a result of points accrued during his career.

The action doesn’t stop for Fletcher who plans to travel to the Eastern States and New Zealand to run workshops and add to his collection.
