Dunsborough company recognised in finals
A Dunsborough labour hire and building solutions company has been recognised as one of four finalists at the recent 2012 National Ethnic Business Awards gala night in Sydney.
Pindari WA gained selection in the Indigenous in Business category from more than 380 nominees.
The award highlights the contribution made by Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander Australians to the economy through their businesses and seeks to share their stories and successes with the rest of the nation.
Armed with more than 18 years experience in the mining industry working as an electrical contractor, David Pidek started Pindari WA in 2008.
The business has grown to focus on a range of licensed trades and has created opportunities for Aboriginal people through jobs and skills training programs in the Pilbara.
Mr Pidek said while unsuccessful in winning the title, attending the gala night as a finalist from a vast and impressive field of businesses was a thrill.
“We started off with a very small labour base of indigenous and non-indigenous personnel contracting to Rio Tinto iron ore, and I am now very proud of the fact that we have 39 percent indigenous employment,” he said.
