Community feedback is being sought on a proposal to build and operate a café and season kiosk on the Dunsborough foreshore.

The proposed concept consists of a 264sqm building capable of accommodating around 100 indoor diners and a 203sqm timber deck which will fit 65 alfresco diner.

A seasonal kiosk seating 20 people will also be included.

The concept is to develop an environmentally sustainable building facing north over the bay.

Particular attention is being given to using recycled and natural building materials and situating the building to achieve natural warmth, shade and wind protection.

The proposed roof height from the floor is 4.2m.

City of Busselton chief executive Mike Archer said the desire for a café on the foreshore was identified “well before any of the upgrade work to the fore commenced”.

“Just like the initial upgrade, this final stage of the development will be subject to the same careful management and public consultation,” he said.

“While no legally binding agreement has been prepared at this stage, the concept design has been developed to the point where it can now be presented to the community.

“The café/kiosk development has already received a great deal of public interest and we’re hoping to get plenty of feedback during this consultation period.”

The plans can be viewed online at www.busselton.wa.gov.au under the consultation link.

Feedback can be emailed directly to commercial.opportunities@busselton.wa.gov.au
