A Facebook page calling on the producers of Drift to dedicate the film to shark attack victim Kyle Burden has close to 300 members, only days after it was set up.

Creator Therese Colman, a Margaret River local studying in Perth, told the Times she set up the page after reading a media report about the push for the film’s dedication.

“I didn’t know Kyle personally, but we had some mutual friends . . . (and) the tragedy hit home as I know some of the people who were surfing with him,” she said.

Miss Colman believed a few of Mr Burden’s personal friends and family members had also joined the page.

She planned on contacting Drift producers in a few weeks to send them the link to the Facebook page.

Drift spokeswoman Natalie O’Shea said the movie’s producers would take the concept on board during discussions in the next few months, but would also have to speak to Mr Burden’s family beforehand.

Filming of Drift wrapped up on Friday and would move into the editing process for the next four months.
