Dingo orphan needs a home

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Animal welfare group SAFE Busselton is offering residents the rare opportunity to adopt an icon.

Volunteers from the Saving Animals From Euthanasia group have been desperately looking for a home for six-year-old dingo-cross Delta, with her temporary foster carer Tracey Bannister only able to care for her until the end of this month.

Miss Bannister said although dingoes were usually aggressive, Delta, who was rescued from Busselton’s streets, was among the gentlest dogs you could meet.

“She’s timid when she’s in unfamiliar territory or with unfamiliar people but once she got to know me she’s quite playful,” she said.

“But she’s a very gentle dog – she’s actually more like a cat than a dog.”

Miss Bannister said Delta would need a secure backyard and would not suit a family with small children.

To help house her, call SAFE, on 0488 518 963.
