Cornerstone Christian College student Lana Harris has won a nationwide fashion contest, with her green-and-gold uniform winning the Wool4school Student Design Competition.

Wool4school asks students to think about the versatility of various wool fabrics as part of a creative design of their own, with this year’s theme asking students to dress their favourite sports team.

Cornerstone Year 7 science teacher Andrew Cleaver organised for the whole class to enter the competition, with Lana choosing to design tracksuit pants, a jumper, socks and a sports bag.

Lana said she designed the uniform in green and gold, doing a draft copy and then a final copy, which took a few weeks.

This was the first time the student had entered the competition and she said she enjoyed learning about the different wools and designing the different features, and seeing what could be done to make it work well.

Lana said she had never thought about pursuing a career in design, but was interested in it after the competition.

Fellow Year 7 student Emily Kerr was also named as one of the 12 runners-up in her division.
