The second annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast will take place in Busselton in September.

The non-profit event, supported by the City of Busselton, will be held at Bayview Resort on September 5.

The theme this year is recognising carers and any funds raised through ticket sales, donations and sponsorship will be donated to Busselton Hospice.

Busselton Mayor Ian Stubbs said the purpose of the breakfast was to give thanks for the blessings residents enjoy in Busselton while supporting the work of the hospice.

"The success of last year's inaugural prayer breakfast validated our community's strong desire for this kind of gathering, which celebrates and embraces neighbourly goodwill and godliness," he said.

The keynote speaker at the breakfast will be Dr Trent Healey, who has been the chairman of the Busselton Hospice since its inception in 1989.

The prayer breakfast movement was established in the 1950s by US President Dwight Eisenhower and has since spread to many Australian towns and cities, including one held at Parliament House in Canberra every November.

Tickets for the Busselton prayer breakfast cost $35 per person, which includes a full breakfast.
