Counting on Jane

Busselton Dunsborough Times

The Disability Services Commission’s Count Me In campaign has been given a local face in Busselton.

Jack in the Box’s Jane Manning has been chosen as the first Count Me In ambassador in the South West to promote a fair go for people with disabilities.

Ms Manning is Jack in the Box’s government liaison and facilitator but previously spent more than 20 years at the South West Development Commission.

She is also the vice chairwoman of BESS Home and Community Care, chairwoman of Waratah Support Centre and an Investing in Our Youth board member.

DSC My Way co-ordinator Jamie Ashton said Ms Manning had all the qualities of an ambassador and the right community profile to make an impact.

Honoured to be asked, Mrs Manning said she looked forward to spreading the Count Me In message with the future Bunbury and Collie ambassadors.

“I think it’s mainly just in everyday life, talking with people and making sure disabled people are included and can contribute to all aspects of life,” she said.

“It’s really important we as a community create opportunities for people with disabilities.”
