Bunbury City Council could spend an extra $36,255 to remove the asbestos roof on the Bunbury Bowling Club.

The council has already approved a $93,000 contract to remove the roof and replace it with Colorbond sheeting.

However, the council could potentially spend an extra $29,645 to replace an evaporative air-conditioner because the old one was corroded and was unable to be reinstalled.

It could also spend $6610 to replace the insulation in the ceiling.

The council will vote on the extra funding at its meeting tonight.

Works and services director Phil Harris said upgrading the air-conditioning and insulation would save money in the long-term
