Could you be a festival ambassador?

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Entries are now open for the 2013 Festival of Busselton Young Ambassador competition.

The festival committee has sent out 45 letters to community groups in Busselton and Dunsborough, inviting them to nominate a person between the ages of 17 and 29. Successful entrants will be required to raise money for a charity or group before next year’s festival and take part in events during the celebrations, with the winner to be announced on closing night.

Last year’s Young Ambassador winner Sarah-Jane Aston, from the Girl Guides, said she would encourage people to nominate after enjoying her experience.

“It’s a lot of fun and worth all the hard work,” she said.

“I learn a lot of life skills…(and) during the festival week, it really built up my confidence, with all the speeches and networking you have to do.”

Miss Aston, 19, said she was excited about the possibility of continuing to represent Busselton by joining the Sugito cultural exchange trip in October with 2012 Fundraising Ambassador winner, Emma Ryan.

Last year’s five Young Ambassador entrants raised $50,000 between them.
