Coach's rallying cry for junior players

Busselton Dunsborough Times

The Busselton and Districts Junior Football Association’s newest coach wants to see more players stepping up to sign on for the upcoming season.

After the success of last year’s decision to include two teams in the competition, Jason Bowman is putting out a call for new players in the under-17s division.

“We had a very successful year with one of the teams in the grand final under Paul Francis, and the other team also played finals footy,” Bowman said.

All the players train together before being organised into the Blacks and Whites for the competition.

This is Bowman’s first year as a coach and he said he was looking forward to the year and hoping to pick up a few skills from Francis.

“Paul is a very experienced coach, so hopefully we’ll do a good job together,” he said.

“I’m a very approachable easygoing bloke, but I’m hoping to keep the progression going.”

Bowman grew up in the Goldfields and has lived in Busselton for the past eight years, playing veterans football for the Busselton team.

“We just want to get as many kids as possible, we need all kinds of players,” he said.

The under-17s train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm at Bovell III oval.

Interested players can call Jason Bowman on 0438 273 421 or Steve Britza on 0409 546 006.
