Thousands will gather at the Busselton foreshore next weekend to spread Christmas cheer as the annual Carols by the Jetty mark the beginning of the festive season.

The annual event, organised and sponsored by the Combined Churches of Busselton, the City of Busselton and Busselton Toyota, attracted more than 2500 people last year.

Organiser Terry Thompson said this year’s carols would feature guest singer Jeremy Ryan, who starred on television series The Voice, with a visit from Santa, and the Three Wise Men on camels.

Mr Thompson said the Carols by the Jetty brought the community together for a “perfect pre-Christmas night out”.

“People love to have a sing-along and to do something as a family and a community at Christmas,” he said.

Mr Thompson said gold coin donations would be collected on the night to help the less fortunate.

“While Christmas is about religion it’s also a time when the community comes together to think of the people who are not so well off,” he said.

“Last year we raised enough to help more than 200 people who wouldn’t have otherwise had enough food to really enjoy Christmas.”

Children are also being urged to guess what Santa will be wearing at this year’s Carols by filling out a coupon and placing it in a box on the night, to win a special prize.

Food and drinks will be available at the event taking place on Saturday, December 10, from 6.30pm.
