A bushfire sparked by a burnt out car near Busselton was contained before properties were threatened yesterday.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife issued the all clear at 3.45pm for the blaze which started in Tuart Forest at 10.30pm on Saturday.

City of Busselton community emergency services officer Tim Wall said 20 fire fighters attended the scene.

“We were lucky the wind dropped off, because if it had picked up the fire could have jumped the road,” he said.

“The conditions were in our favour and no properties were threatened.”

The fire burnt through 6ha of state forest near the intersection of Layman Rd and Tuart Drive, 7km east of Busselton.

Busselton Senior Sergeant Steve Principe said police were investigating the burnt out car which caused the blaze.
