The Capes region escaped the worst of the dangerous weather which hit much of the State last night, but residents have been warned there are more storms to come.

Winds of 102km/hour from Busselton jetty and 98km/hour from Cape Naturaliste were reported overnight as a cold front moved across WA.

The State Emergency Service recorded 32 calls for help but only one of those was in the Capes region.

Busselton SES local manager Brian Wallace said a resident in Yallingup having renovations to his home wanted help to secure the property.

“It’s been very quiet and touch wood it stays this way,” he said.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a warning for people west of a line from Lancelin to Israelite Bay to get ready for more dangerous weather coming this afternoon and evening.

DFES said this type of weather only occurred once or twice a year and was likely to cause major damage to homes and make travel dangerous.

Visit www.dfes.wa.gov.au for tips on how to prepare and to keep up-to-date.

If your home has been badly damaged by a storm call the SES on 132 500 or in a life threatening situation call 000.
