A Busselton woman who intervened to stop harassment of a possum by a group of men with a megaphone has been allegedly assaulted.

Busselton police Senior Sergeant Steve Principe said the woman who worked at Domino’s Pizza, had just finished her shift around 8pm on Friday night and was walking home on West Street.

She came across a group of men chasing a possum with a megaphone and appealed for them to stop.

One of the men then allegedly turned the megaphone on her, saying “I don’t care.”

The woman pushed the megaphone away and the man allegedly then pushed it back into her face.

The woman has reported an assault to police, who are appealing for any information from the public about the incident.

The men were driving a white Toyota Hilux.
