Calling all lifesavers ... Smiths Beach needs you
The Smiths Beach Surf Life Saving Club is calling for new members ahead of the start of their season on Sunday, November 4.
Club president Leanne Verhoeff said their first season was a huge success with more than 300 members joining the club.
“We are calling on the local community to come down to our registration day and consider becoming a member to assist in one of a number of roles,” she said.
Sunday activities run from 9am to 11am for children aged from five to 18 years old.
Thirteen-year-olds are able to train towards their Surf Rescue Certificate and 16-year-olds and over can go for their Bronze Medallion.
The club’s Sunday morning nippers program is run between Smiths Beach and Eagle Bay to give the children a variety of conditions to practise in.
“It also gives us an opportunity to change venue should the weather conditions not be suitable at a particular beach,” Mrs Verhoeff said.
Registration Day will be held on October 14 from 11am to 3pm at Swings & Roundabouts.
