Busselton artist Jack Bromell has finished his mural depicting the history of the Busselton Jetty along the side of the renovated Equinox cafe.

The mural is a timeline of the Jetty and details various events in its 150-year history.

Bromell said he started the design process with some visual research and read a timeline of the jetty.

“I didn’t plan what I wanted to do, instead I printed about 100 photos from the beginning of the timber mill industry and went from there,” he said.

“I wanted to start with men cutting the trees down for the jetty.”

The artist encouraged people to have a look at the mural to see the details included, as well as a range of hidden messages.

Bromell said the mural meant a lot to him because he grew up in Busselton.

“It’s quite personal because I have that connection,” he said.

Part of the mural includes a group of people jumping off the jetty.

“I used to jump off the jetty every day after school and wanted to capture that,” he said.

Bromell has another mural at Mono Cafe and said he was happy to have his works appear throughout the city.

“I hope I can come back in 10-20 years to see if this is still here,” he said.
