Busselton's historic villa to get revamp
Plans are in place to revamp one of Busselton's most historic buildings.
Cameron Ognenis purchased Busselton Prospect Villa last year with plans to restore the building to its original state.
The 26-year-old said it was an unusual choice for someone his age to purchase a heritage-listed building, but he enjoyed the lifestyle that came with it.
"I'm loving the lifestyle side of it and meeting new people from all over the world," he said.
"It's a very family-orientated business, my mother Pricilla does a lot to help out and I like the fact it's something we can do together.
"I'm currently trying to get a grant from the Heritage Council of WA so I can have some work done to the building.
"I want people to appreciate and understand the history when they stay here." The building was built in 1844 and is said to be the second homestead of Busselton. It was owned by the Pries family.
The building has been used to house a tourist bureau, vet, an office and for accommodation.
Mr Ognenis said he hoped to dedicate more time to the villa and less time to his towing company.
"I want this to be a full-time job and I want to be able to offer a complete service to my guests, including tours of Busselton and Margaret River," he said.
