The Busselton Jetty turns 150 next year and the city is throwing a black tie dinner party to celebrate.

The Busselton Chamber of Commerce will host the stylish event at the end of the jetty on Australia Day weekend 2015 to commemorate the historic occasion.

Busselton Chamber of Commerce chief executive Ray McMillan said guests would be treated to some of the best food, wine and entertainment the region had to offer in a spectacular setting right on the waters of Geographe Bay.

"This really is a rare opportunity to enjoy a fine dining experience while being seated 2km out to sea and something we believe could be a world first," Mr McMillan said.

The once-in-a-lifetime event on Friday, January 23 will also be the pre-cursor to Saturday night's OZ Rock concert headlined by Icehouse.

Guests will be ferried to the end of the jetty by boat from Geographe Marina or the foreshore.

There will also be an auction where guests can bid for some rare, collectable jetty-related items with proceeds going to Telethon.

Mr McMillan said to ensure local people had the first chance to access tickets the event wasn’t being advertised in Perth for another two weeks.

"Get in early to book your spot for a night to be remembered," he said.

"Tickets are on sale either as individuals or as tables of 10 and numbers are strictly limited."
