Busselton Mayor's OAM honour
Busselton Mayor Ian Stubbs has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his service to local government and the Busselton community.
Cr Stubbs was one of 354 Australians to receive the honour as part of today’s Queen’s Birthday celebrations.
He became the first City of Busselton Mayor in 2012, after serving as Busselton Shire President since 2009 and a councillor since 2007.
Cr Stubbs started his long career in local government as an assistant clerk at the Shire of Dandaragan in 1969, where he worked for the best part of 20 years.
He also had stints at the Town of Mosman Park and Shire of Wyndham/East Kimberley.
In 1990 he became chief executive at the Shire of Busselton, a post he held for six years.
He was also chief executive at the Shire of Toodyay for two years and worked for the Western Australian Local Government Association.
Cr Stubbs is a current patron of the Busselton Men’s Shed, Busselton Arts Society and Busselton Choral Society, and a member of various local community groups and sporting clubs.
In 2012 he received the WALGA Merit Award for his distinguished service to the community.
