Busselton Jetty named as finalist in NBN Grants Program, in running for up to $35,000
The Busselton Jetty could soon receive a deserving cash splash after being named a finalist in a national grants program.
The beloved tourist attraction is in the running for up to $35,000 from the NBN Grants Program.
If successful, the funding will be used to diversify and expand its environmental education programs for school students and the wider public.
This would include new technologies to launch an online virtual school excursion program involving new technology and STEM content to professionally stream an interactive educational tour of the underwater observatory and the new marine discovery centre to schools anywhere in Australia.
Busselton Jetty Inc. CEO Lisa Shreeve said she was delighted the jetty was being considered for the funding.
“This program will provide opportunities to schools that are unable to travel to the jetty and give them the ability to experience our unique educational offerings by livestreaming eight metres underwater — an alternative that is fun, interactive and educational,” she said.
There are more than 150 entries in the program. Organisations are eligible to win $15,000 if deemed a category winner, with an additional $20,000 awarded to the overall winner.
Winners will be revealed later this month in Canberra.
