Busselton choirs take Eisteddfod challenge

Three Busselton primary school choirs performed in the under-13 variety entertainment section of the 54th Bunbury Eisteddfod in the past week.

Dunsborough Primary School choir won the category with their rendition of Hot Chocolate.

The school’s music specialist Melanie Smoker said the group of 51 children from Years 4 to 6 have been invited to perform at the Eisteddfod highlights concert.

Vasse Primary School Junior Choir came third when 51 students performed a song called “Gecko and Bilby.

Music specialist Karen Bigwood said the Year 2 and 3s did really well as they competed alongside much older students.

Geographe Primary School’s junior choir dressed in costume and performed choreographedhand actions and sang Food Glorious Food.

Music specialist Karen Baker said the 63 Year 4 children were highly commended by adjudicators and provided excellent entertainment value.

The dance section of Eisteddfod is on this week with 89 solo and duo performances entered from the Busselton Jazz Attack Dance Studio.
