Busselton celebrates jetty opening

Busselton Dunsborough Times

The Busselton Fiesta at the weekend was a chance to celebrate the long-awaited opening of the refurbished Busselton Jetty.

Sultry songstress Kate Cerbrano and her band entertained a crowd of thousands who crammed the Busselton Foreshore in anticipation of the event.

The relaxed atmosphere was a little disturbed by the fierce winds which had been blowing all day, but the crowd were in the main unperturbed.

The jetty refurbishment had been plagued by bad weather which delayed the construction, and more recently by the collapse of main contractor, Marine and Civil. It is estimated that the cost of the refurbishment was $27m.

Brendan Grylls declared the jetty open, and a magnificent fireworks display which stretched the length of the jetty, entertained the crowd..

Busselton will now be earmared as possibly one of the best spots for future firework celebrations in the South West.
