Boules bowls on after festival debut

Busselton Dunsborough Times

The traditional French ball game boules will run again this weekend after a successful competition at the Festival of Busselton last month.

Boules will kick off this Sunday, February 16, on the lawn between the Weld Theatre and the ArtGeo building on Queen Street from 2.30pm.

Organiser John Cannam said he arranged the event after more than 40 people turned out for the original competition last month.

Mr Cannam said that he had been inundated with requests for another.

The event is a social competition open to children, families, doubles and singles.

“Thanks to the generosity of our festival sponsors, we will be offering some great prizes to the winners, including a $25 bank account with Bankwest in Busselton, ” Mr Cannam said.

City of Busselton events officer Peta Tuck said it was great to see the “newly greened up and beautified” lawn area being put to use by the community.
