The Yallingup Boardriders held their club championship decider on Saturday, the last event for the year.

Club president Todd Taylor said conditions were solid at Three Bears, between Yalingup and Sugarloaf Rock, with the grommets taking on 150cm to 180cm waves.

The under-16 cadets division was won by Felix Leaver who has just returned from six months in Indonesia and competed alongside younger brother Maxi, 11.

The open division winner was Sammy Tucker, which Taylor said put him in a strong position to take the championship for what would be his second time.

Club legend Dave Hopkins took out the masters division and also placed in the open division.

Taylor said there were 35 to 40 competitors across all divisions in Saturday’s event.

Also placing in the event were Tylan Lambert and Matt Buxley, who came second and third in the open.

In the masters, Tommy Trigwell was second and Tod Taylor third.

In the cadets, Charlie Wize was second and Jack Thomas third.

The Yallingup Boardriders presentation night will be held at the Dunsborough Tavern on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm when this year’s club champion will be announced.
