Busselton triathlete Belinda Dennis will travel to Canada next week to compete in the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon World Championships.

Dennis qualified for the event at this year’s Busselton Half Ironman when she finished with a time of four hours and 50 minutes. She will compete at the September 9 event at Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, in the 35 to 39 age group.

“I’m feeling fit. I’ve had no injuries and I’ve had a good training program, ” she said.

Dennis has been focusing on hill rides to prepare for the craggy Canadian terrain and expects the bike leg will be her strongest. “I’ve always been a runner, played hockey and have done the Jetty Swim, but I only started riding two years ago when I began doing triathlons so I’ve really focused on the ride, ” she said.

The Ironman 70.3 Triathlon World Championships will be Dennis’s fourth half ironman event.
