Aces jet out for nationals
Two Busselton girls will represent WA when they take on the National Championships in Sydney this week.
Riley Culnane and Harmony Sutherland, both 14, play for Aces Netball Club in Busselton and represent the South West Jets in the State Netball League. They have been named in the WA under-15 State schoolgirls netball team.
Both girls have been in the Busselton development team for the past five years, travelling twice a week to Perth for training.
Riley said it was her second time representing WA after competing in 2013.
"I am really looking forward to travelling to Sydney for netball as I get more of an opportunity to play against strong competition and learn so much," she said.
"From travelling up to Perth for trainings twice a week, I feel like I have improved so much and the training that our coaches provide for us have prepared our team really well.
"I'm most looking forward to spending the week with the team as we have become a very tight unit and they are such a great bunch of girls."
Aces Netball Club coach Erin Culnane said she was really proud of the girls.
"It is a very unique event to have two regional players who have shared the defensive circle throughout their development years, to be selected together for the State team," she said.
"They have always played well together, but they have worked hard individually to earn their places in the State team on merit. I believe they will have a successful carnival and they will be excellent ambassadors for their schools, their sport and their town."
