A frantic search is underway for two children missing in river in Sydney’s southwest after a woman tragically drowned.

Emergency services were called to a boat ramp on Floyd Bay at Lansvale, shortly after 10am on Saturday, after a woman and two children were seen in the water in distress.

A woman was pulled from the water a short time later; tragically, she could not be revived.

An extensive search is now underway for the two children believed to be in the water.

The search involves multiples agencies, including police, Marine Area Command, the Polair helicopter, and SES.

Police said in a statement no further information was available.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner in regard to the woman’s death.
