Rising tennis stars shine in annual Busselton Tennis Club junior tournament

Most than 100 junior tennis stars from across the State competed to improve their Australian tennis rank in the Busselton Tennis Club’s Toyota Junior Tournament.

Between January 23 and 26 tennis players aged from 10 to 17 competed in the major regional tournament which plays a major part in players’ future.

This year, Tennis Australia decided the annual tournament was to be based on competitors ranking points rather than age, creating a healthy competition among all age groups and skill levels.

Tennis South West’s Calum Macaulay said the event was an “incredible” success.

“We were thrilled to welcome young players from across WA to enjoy healthy competition at the 2022 Busselton Toyota Junior Tour,” he said.

“In these challenging times it’s great to come together and share our love for the sport of tennis as a community.

“We would also like of offer a special thanks to Tomio and The Kent Yamazaki & Bob Brett Foundation for their dedicated support”.

With the support of Courtney Harper-Penman and Tennis West’s Loretta Healy, the event involved 183 entries from 137 players for both single and double competitions, with more than 20 volunteers supporting the long weekend.
