Muscle cars rally for worthy cause
More than 50 cars are set to journey from Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse to Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse in the second annual Australia Day Cape to Cape Super Cruise to raise money for the Give Me 5 for Kids foundation.
The 250km round trip will leave from Peel Terrace behind the Busselton McDonald’s at 8.30am on Thursday, with a variety of pre-1980s muscle cars, hot rods and classic cars expected to take part.
The group will head to Augusta’s Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse before meeting up again for a “show and shine” lunch stop at Cheeky Monkey Brewery and Cidery from midday.
Event organiser and Hold On Promotions owner Clinton Wall said revheads from all over the State took part last year and he encouraged people unable to make the full cruise or to join the group for lunch at the brewery.
“Hopefully we will attract big numbers again this year,” he said.
The event raised more than $1300 for the Lord Mayor Distress fund in support of victims of the Harvey-Waroona bushfires which tore through Yarloop at
Entry to the Australia Day cruise is by donation, with all proceeds going to Give Me 5 for Kids.
