The location may have changed but the pride and positivity will remain the same at this weekend’s Pride in the Park as part of KB Pride Festival.

Hosted by Goldfields Pride, the annual festival provides a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies to come together in celebration and support.

A drag bingo extravaganza will start off the celebrations on Friday night, followed by Pride in the Park on Saturday, and a high heels and high tea event on Sunday.

Goldfields Pride president Keaton Rowe said last year’s events received an “incredibly positive” response, with locals expressing their appreciation for the chance to connect and feel part of a larger community.

“In smaller communities like Kalgoorlie-Boulder, visibility and representation are so important, and the festival helps cultivate understanding, acceptance, and pride,” he said.

“Our events are all about uniting the community in celebration and solidarity, offering a space where everyone can feel free to be themselves.

“Whether you’re excited to enjoy a show, meet new friends, or just soak up the wonderful atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.”

This year’s Pride in the Park event has been upgraded to Centennial Park and will see the return of the Great Goldfields Gay Bake-Off and the Pet Parade, as well as stalls, live music and live performances from local and visiting drag queens.

There will also be family-friendly activities such as queer storytime and enchanted stilt walkers throughout the event, which runs from 9am to 2pm.

Mr Howe said attendees could look forward to a vibrant, joyful atmosphere with activities for everyone.

“We wholeheartedly invite everyone to join us for this wonderful celebration of diversity, love, and acceptance,” he said.

“Goldfields Pride is more than just a festival — it’s a heartfelt affirmation that everyone, no matter who they are or who they love, deserves respect, recognition, and joy.”
